photo-sep-14-13-08-45I am just a woman in love with her God, following what she believes is her calling. Not so long ago I was a hardcore skeptic; no startling come-to-Jesus-moment or near-death experience, just God speaking to my heart (you can read more about my personal journey here).

My journey was hard and I often felt alone with no one to help me answer the tough questions. I read my Bible, numerous books, listened to podcasts, studied theology texts as needed, but what I really wanted was to find someone like me.

Everyone around me was either a skeptic, wishy-washy, or a long-time believer. I needed someone who believed and believed it was okay to question. I wanted to know God on a deeper level but struggled with some of the things I read in the Bible and yearned for someone to take me by the hand and walk me though it.

I’m not sure I’ve found that yet. Faith looks different for everyone and for me, especially, it was hard won. However, I have found out this: It is okay to question. Questioning is not a sign you lack a strong enough faith; it is a sign you have a strong enough love. It takes a strong person to want a real relationship with God- after all, that is what he wants with us.  In writing this blog I hope to be that someone for someone else.

“It is Jesus that you seek when you dream of happiness; He is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; He is the beauty to which you are so attracted; it is He who provoked you with that thirst for fullness that will not let you settle for compromise; it is He who urges you to shed the masks of a false life; it is He who reads in your heart your most genuine choices, the choices that others try to stifle.

It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives, the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves to be ground down by mediocrity, the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal.”
